THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF PRESIDENT ELPIDIO QUIRINO
The life of President Elpidio Quirino, the sixth president of the Philippines, was characterized by adversity, tenacity, and commitment to public service. Quirino, who was born in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, on November 16, 1890, came from a lowly background and put a lot of effort into his schooling. His determination to rebuild the country and serve with compassion was bolstered by his early experiences of poverty and loss, particularly during World War II when the majority of his family was killed. Before becoming president, Quirino had an impressive political career.
