“End OSAEC and CSAEM: Fight for the Safety and Rights of Every Child

The Children's human rights and dignity, including the government, schools, communities, and families. Children are exposed to risks that did not exist in the past due to the rapid advancement of technology, and this celebration serves as a reminder that protecting them must always be a top national priority. To address these issues, the Philippine government has taken a number of actions, particularly with the Anti-OSAEC and Anti-CSAEM Act. By mandating that internet service providers, tech platforms, and online services block exploitative content and assist law enforcement with investigations, this law improves digital safety.

To rescue victims, offer psychosocial support, and prosecute offenders, government organizations like the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Justice (DOJ), and Philippine National Police – Women and Children Protection Center (PNP-WCPC) collaborate. The battle is far from over in spite of these efforts. There is still a lack of safe internet access for many kids, and community awareness is still low.

In order for the government's protection measures to be completely effective, digital safety education must be provided to families and schools, and local government entities must fortify their reporting mechanisms. In order to assist young survivors in regaining their self-esteem and dignity, society must also advocate for more easily accessible mental health care.

In the end, a coordinated effort is needed to terminate OSAEC and CSAEM. Every child, regardless of background, deserves a secure, caring, and respectful environment, as National Children's Month serves as a reminder. We protect Filipino children's fundamental rights by advocating for legislation, raising awareness, and opposing online exploitation. By defending them now, we can create a more secure and optimistic future for the country.
